Primavera II
Twelve Fine and Applied Artists
Thursday 17th April to Sunday 11th May 2025
As the earth tilts imperceptibly towards the sun, the season of spring brings warmth and blossom to our gardens. In this Primavera II exhibition at Sou’-Sou’-West Gallery this Easter, ceramists Jane Staniland and Alison Shelton Brown celebrate the beautiful Spring planting around the Symondsbury Estate through clay. Painter Jan Phethean imagines fantastical gardens whereas Jonathan Mulvaney would rather a stroll in the countryside to capture the abundance of the season using acrylics.
Dorset furniture maker Alex Brooks creates unique coffee tables using locally sourced wood which compliment the complex textured clay vessels of Charlie Salaman whose studio is in Dorchester.
Laura Thomas will be showing her woven textile and resin pieces alongside the exquisite mixed media sculptures by Maxine Greer and Shibori textiles by Daphne Roach.
Cornwall makers Carin Lindberg and Helen Eastham bring their inspiration of the sea in jewellery and glass bowls. While Janine Partington’s expertise using enamels and leather for jewellery and wall work is always popular.
This exhibition truly provides the opportunity at Easter to enjoy a cornucopia of materials and techniques used by professional artists and makers based in the South-West and all at affordable prices. Specially selected by SW.Curated.
