A Feast of Colour

Solo Painting Show by Caroline Liddington

The exhibition will consist of three main themes: Interiors and objects, land and seascapes, plus animals and fish. All painted over the last twenty five years.

Caroline says:

A Feast of Colour represents an eclectic mix of narrative paintings, produced over the last twenty five years. Starting in my studio in Kingston Upon Thames, then relocating to Cornwall in 2009 and to Dorset in 2015.

I have visited and revisited themes throughout this and earlier times, this exhibition displays three different areas of interest:

Interiors / objects

Land / seascapes

Animals / fish

A fourth selection, ‘Hello Dorset’, includes all of the above.

Early work produced in Kingston included the painting of portraits and interiors, of which two remain and are exhibited here. On moving to Cornwall I began working from memory, whilst also painting land / seascapes for regular exhibitions.

On moving to Dorset, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy, represented in my series ‘Hello Dorset’. These paintings are often inspired by my cats, home and the Dorset coastal landscape often seen through interior vistas, with an expressive and less representational approach.

There is a personal story behind each picture, sometimes written in a short verse, sometimes left to the viewers’ imagination!
