We All See Things Differently
2nd to 8th July 2025
Sarah Jane Ross brings together artwork made by residents of two local care homes - Harbour House and Fairfield House.
Art Classes at Harbour House, West Bay and Fairfield House, Lyme Regis
Harbour House and Fairfield House residents have a weekly art class with local artist Sarah Jane Ross, who has been coming to both homes to deliver art sessions for 9 years (since 2016).
The art sessions embrace a wide range of subjects including traditional landscapes, seasonal flowers, portraits, animals and still life, using a variety of media, including inks, charcoal, watercolour, tempura, oil pastel and soft pastel.
The sessions offer a calm, nurturing environment which allows residents to explore their creativity in a relaxed manner, under Sarah Jane’s guidance and tuition. The sessions offer a wide range of benefits, both mental (cognitive) and physical (dexterity), plus boosting self-esteem and confidence, stimulating social interactions and learning and, above all, fun!
We All See Things Differently
“We All See Things Differently” features the residents’ selected artworks for the first time together at the prestigious Sou’-Sou’-West Gallery, in Symondsbury, Dorset from Wednesday 2nd July until Tuesday 8th July. They will be exhibiting their work alongside Sarah Jane’s own artworks. It will showcase the residents’ favourites, selected from their own portfolios of work created during the classes, and is professionally curated and available to purchase.
Sarah Jane said: “I hope that visitors will gain a real appreciation of their achievements, that it will make people think and reflect, and show you are never too old to try something new!”
