Saturday 15th July - Sunday 4th August 2024
Alison has a diploma in Art and Design from Dartington College of Arts and was Head of Art at a Somerset School from 1976 - 2022.
Having recently completed a long and rewarding career as an art teacher, Alison now has more time to develop and pursue her own artistic practice.
During the 1990s she exhibited regularly, having solo exhibitions and gallery representation including; CCA Bath,Theatre Royal Bath, Wykeham Gallery Stockbridge, and work with Washington Green Fine Art Publishers.
Alison is passionate about the power of colour and creates expressive, vibrant, semi–abstract floral still life paintings. She explores and layers colour, intuitively capturing sensations and feelings from both observation and imagination.
“As a child, I recall staring up in awe at a large Matisse painting, that moment ignited my life-long love, curiosity and fascination for colour. Colour and nature, nourish and nurture both my soul and senses. My well being is enhanced with the therapeutic benefits of having colour and flowers as my constant companions.”
From fresh to fading, Alison is captivated by the glorious colours, textures, shapes, scents and characteristics of flowers. Exploring the endless dialogue, dynamics and relationships between colours is what underpins and drives her art - as does her desire for her paintings to bring joy to the viewer.
