Contemporary Crafts

Welcome to our first Contemporary Crafts Exhibition. We are delighted to present a rich variety of hand-made contemporary crafts by experienced designer-makers from Dorset, Devon and Somerset. In seeing these crafts in a gallery setting we hope it will help to raise the profile of the local craft makers and their exciting creations.

You will see many traditional methods and skills used to create these contemporary pieces:  hand forged metalwork and decorative ironwork, Dorset Buttons, using designs from the mid-17th c, willow basketry weaves, wood turned bowls from British hardwoods and hand made quilt hangings. There is a large range of ceramics, local wool snoods, felt wraps, jewellery and painted silk scarves plus printed lampshades, cushions and books. Also colourful fused, painted, etched and stained glass hangings and sculptures.
